Neti
(Nedu)
Neti, the
gatekeeper of the underworld, is featured mainly in the Descent of
Inanna. If you just read the written sources, you might think Neti
is just some kind of Sumerian version of a proper English butler.
However, once you see what it means to be the gatekeeper of a realm bound
about by such a strong magic that all the Gods must obey it, you can get a
glimpse of what kind of Titan Neti actually
is.
In the psychological analogue to the
myth, Neti becomes the mediator between the Ego and the Shadow. The
importance of this to practitioners of the Dark Way cannot be overstated;
so we give Neti his due as well as we know
how.
